cornice window boxes

I followed the instructions for building cornices from a fellow blogger and these are for the family room and I have one done for the morning room so far. (stripes). I am not very handy but I think they turned out ok!

Cabinets, flooring, lighting and brick front

It has been a busy week. The cabinets are in, the hardwood flooring is in for the foyer, kitchen and morning room and the vinyl flooring is in the guest bath and laundry room. The master bathroom is tiled as well. They also installed the granite countertops. All the trim is done in the house and ready to be painted. The staircase is almost done. The brick is now done on the front. The shutters and siding and trim will be done next week. The fixtures and glass door on the shower will be next week and the stone fireplace. The carpet is due to go in Aug. 1. The house will basically be done in one week leaving landscaping. The concrete driveway and sidewalk will be poured next week as well. The lighting is also complete now.

purchases

I have been making purchases for our bedrooms lately. Hopefully the colors of everything will all match when it comes together:

master bedroom: Waterford Harrison Collection at Macys

Oldest daughter's Room: Frozen, I am thinking of this bedspread and the castle wall decal from Kohls.. she also has the bed curtain which was really cute from Rakuten

The two pieces on the end are from Kohls and will be in the living room

Hello Kitty theme for youngest daughter's bedroom from Bed Bath and Beyond

knobs, hinges and doors

Sorry for all the blog posts at once, a lot happened this week.

When we were at our selections meeting my husband asked what color our lighting was and what the fixtures looked like. It had not occurred to me that the chrome that was standard would be an issue since we have black cabinets and the iron railing. We switched to the dark brown for fixtures and lighting and I am glad we did. I spied a bag of knobs and hinges the other day and snapped a photo. We also have a door installed... exciting... yes I know it is just a door but hey I have been waiting since January to see a door.

We have cabinets!

I was surprised to see the cabinets in place on Thursday. They had to set it in to get measurements for the granite which will take a few weeks to come in. The cabinets were placed in the master and guest bath as well. We went with the black which is great for Steeler/Pirates/Penguins country!

What a treat to see my staircase railings!

I walked in the house the other day and was pleased to see our iron railings being stained. They are sitting in the dining room and will be ready to install in a week or two. They are custom matching the stain because the ones at Riterug were not even close. What do you think the color looks closer in person. They still have to apply the varnish so it should be a little shinier. I am trying to match it to the floor sample. This is my favorite part of the house and I cannot wait to see it installed.

Drywall is in

The drywall went up in a day or two, then two - three days for them to seal the nail holes and seems, then another day to paint. The ceiling got stamped as well.

I dislike the windows in the foyer being off center but we knew to expect that. I need to think of something to go in the middle... any ideas? some kind of artwork or vinyl lettering maybe? Some day I want a plant shelf there so I can do a Christmas tree.

ceiling fans

I saw someone else talking about ceiling fans so Here are our choices:

master bedroom: this will match the master bedroom rather well.

here is the fan I want in the morning room. I am going for a rustic/craftsman theme throughout the house eventually with the iron, hand scratch floors and the darker colors.

PreDrywall Meeting

We had the predrywall meeting on Monday. The garage floor got poured yesterday and they were to start the drywall today. We are next in line to get bricked and sided so it should be done by the end of July I think? I cannot wait to see this part of the house.
